Serve as a part of an integrated team of engineers and cybersecurity experts within the firm’s transportation sector cybersecurity practice focused on embedded and cyber-physical systems. Consult with clients in the secure design of automotive technologies and systems, conduct automotive cybersecurity risk assessments, develop security documentation, and design and implement cybersecurity solutions within complex, connected automotive environments. Develop system concepts and apply the systems engineering life cycle to translating strategic cyber objectives and technology and environmental conditions into engineering outcomes and solutions within the automotive industry. Apply knowledge of monitoring, analyzing, detecting, and responding to cyber events and incidents within transportation domain information systems and networks and connected cyber-physical system environments. Advise on an integrated, dynamic cyber defense and leverage cybersecurity solutions to deliver cybersecurity operational services, including intrusion detection and prevention, situational awareness of network and device intrusions, security events and data spillage, and incident response actions. Provide work leadership to junior employees. This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., to include the District of Columbia.
5+ years of professional or academic research experience with cybersecurity
Experience with physical systems, including automotive industry, ground-based vehicle platforms, aircraft, watercraft, or industrial control systems
Experience with evaluating security vulnerabilities, developing mitigation strategies, or implementing remediation activities
Knowledge of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF)
Ability to create cybersecurity documentation, including security policies, plans, and procedures
Ability to analyze and suggest recommended improvements to cyber-physical systems technologies and systems to meet industry cyber standards and best practices
Ability to conduct research on emerging transportation and cybersecurity technologies and practices to develop innovative solutions
Ability to obtain a security clearance
BA or BS degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
Experience with automotive and transportation industry organizations and events, such as Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) (e.g., standards committees, Formula SAE, Formula SAE Electric, Baja SAE), Auto-ISAC, Automated Vehicle Symposium, Embedded Security in Cars (escar), Transportation Research Board (TRB), and Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITSA)
Knowledge of automotive architectures and communications technologies
Knowledge of ISO/SAE 21434
Possession of excellent research and analytical skills
Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
MA or MS degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field a plus
Security+, CISSP, GICSP, or CEH certification
